Najjar Abdul-Musawwir, Associate Professor of Painting and Art History at Southern Illinois University Carbondale School of Art and Design, Carbondale, Illinois. He is a visual artist who has created mixed-media abstract paintings and drawings about various aspects of American life. He is a passionate landscape painter. Najjar has been experimenting with charcoal as a wet medium, creating thematic bodies of works of representational and non-representational drawings. He has exhibit nationally and internationally. He has been awarded the Judge William Holmes Cook’s Professorship Award, Ricket-Ziebold Award, Illinois Consortium Educational Opportunity Fellowship, and several other awards and acknowledgements.
